Croatia legend Davor Suker asserts Luka Modric will return to Real Madrid following his time at AC Milan and the upcoming World Cup.

Luka Modric is expected to rejoin Real Madrid after his spell with AC Milan, according to Croatian football icon Davor Suker. The former striker emphasized that the midfielder will certainly return to the Spanish club after the World Cup, extending his remarkable legacy in Madrid.
In an exclusive interview on Radio MARCA's La Tribu, Suker hinted at Modric's future, noting that Real Madrid holds a special place in the player’s heart. While Modric has made a significant impact in Serie A, it remains uncertain whether he will renew his contract with Milan or retire after the tournament.
Responding to questions about Modric’s next destination, Suker said, "Now they asked me where he is going to continue, either in Milan or in Madrid... I believe that something is going to happen with Real Madrid."
Modric’s previous tenure at Real Madrid includes 597 appearances and 43 goals across all competitions. His achievements with the club feature six Champions League titles, four La Liga championships, and two Copa del Rey trophies. Individually, his 2018 season earned him the Ballon d'Or, The Best FIFA Men's Player, and UEFA Best Player in Europe awards. Additionally, he has won five UEFA Super Cups, four FIFA Club World Cups, five Spanish Super Cups, and the 2024-25 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, solidifying his legendary status at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The timing of Modric’s return appears to depend on the conclusion of the World Cup. Suker commented, "He is definitely going to return, but I do not know in what way... We are going to wait for the World Cup to pass and see what happens."
Currently, Modric is concentrating on leading Croatia in Group L, starting with a match against England on Wednesday, followed by games against Panama and Ghana. These fixtures require his full focus before any official announcements about his club future are made.
Attention now turns to Modric’s World Cup performances, with expectations high for a formal declaration on his next steps once the tournament ends. Suker declined to reveal further details, saying with a laugh, "I cannot speak any more, I cannot speak any more, my friend. Leave it a little in the air, you cannot say everything." Regardless of the specifics, a significant return to Real Madrid is anticipated.
