Mohamed Salah Considers Europe and Gulf Offers for Next Career Move
Mohamed Salah faces a pivotal career decision between continuing in Europe's top leagues or exploring lucrative opportunities in Gulf football leagues.

Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian national team star and Liverpool forward, stands at a critical juncture in his football career following the conclusion of his historic tenure with Liverpool. This transition opens multiple paths, including maintaining his presence in Europe's elite competitions or embarking on a new chapter in the Gulf leagues, which have increasingly attracted top global talents.
Leaving Liverpool represents more than a club change for Salah; it marks the end of an era defined by his legendary achievements at Anfield and raises questions about his next destination. Having cemented his legacy among Premier League greats and left an indelible mark on Liverpool's history, Salah now faces a choice that will shape the remainder of his career.
European Opportunities and Turkish Interest
In Europe, Salah's options include remaining at the pinnacle of football, as major clubs across the continent’s top five leagues continue to seek players of his caliber and experience. His technical skills, physical condition, and extensive Champions League experience make him a valuable asset for teams competing for major titles and facing the world's best players.
According to the Empire of the Kop network, Salah has given preliminary approval to Fenerbahçe's management to begin negotiations. Initial contacts between the parties in recent days have been described as positive, with the Turkish club submitting an informal offer to gauge Salah’s financial expectations and conditions.
The report highlights Salah's flexibility regarding his annual salary, indicating he is willing to accept between 12 and 13 million euros per year. This reflects his desire to stay in European competitions and not leave the continent at this stage, despite substantial financial incentives from Saudi Arabian clubs.
Salah reportedly favors joining a strong sporting project in Europe, believing he remains capable of competing at the highest levels and that his European career is far from over. This perspective makes a move to the Turkish league a strong possibility currently.
The network also notes that Salah views Fenerbahçe as an ambitious project that would allow him to continue competing both continentally and domestically. The Turkish club aims to build a powerful squad capable of reestablishing itself on the European stage in coming seasons.
Additionally, several Italian clubs, including Juventus, AC Milan, and Roma—where Salah previously played before transferring to Liverpool in the 2017 summer transfer window—have expressed interest in the Egyptian forward.
Potential Move to the Saudi Pro League
Simultaneously, the option of moving to the Saudi Pro League remains under consideration but is not Salah's top priority at present. He prefers to postpone a transfer to the Gulf as long as he can continue playing in Europe's top leagues.
Negotiations with Saudi clubs are still in early stages, though communication is intensifying, opening multiple possibilities for Salah's future. Major Saudi clubs continue to pursue him with lucrative offers that could alter the course of any deal at any moment.
Saudi newspaper Al-Yaum reported that Salah has set a preliminary date to announce his new club after finalizing his decision following the season's end and the official conclusion of his Liverpool career.
The reports indicate that Salah does not oppose joining the Saudi Professional League next season and that this option remains strongly on the table alongside other potential offers.
Al-Yaum further states that Salah prefers to delay his final decision until after participating with Egypt in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He intends to evaluate all available offers before confirming which club he will represent in the upcoming season.
Among the Saudi clubs, Al-Ittihad is notably interested in acquiring Salah as a major signing to strengthen their squad and enhance their attacking capabilities for the next season. Salah’s status as one of the Premier League's standout players in recent years has attracted widespread attention from European and Arab clubs alike, with his final choice pending the conclusion of upcoming international commitments.
San Diego Club Emerges as an Option
The San Diego club in the United States, owned by Egyptian businessman Mohamed Lotfy Mansour, has also appeared as a prominent potential destination. This scenario could offer Salah a markedly different sporting and commercial opportunity compared to his European career.
The Athletic network reported that San Diego would not match the financial packages offered by Saudi clubs but might propose a deal similar to the one used for Argentine legend Lionel Messi’s transfer to Inter Miami, which included club ownership stakes as part of the agreement.
According to the report, San Diego could include a contract clause offering Salah partial ownership in one of its academies operating in Africa, the United States, and Denmark, backed by investments totaling $120 million. This arrangement could provide additional appeal to Salah, who is known for his interest in investing in Egypt and contributing to the development of Egyptian football.
