Lebanese Army: Ongoing Israeli Attacks Threaten Stability and Hinder Military Efforts

Amid recent developments, the Army Command wishes to clarify the following: In a new wave of condemned and widespread attacks on Lebanon, the Israeli Army has escalated targeting residential areas and institutions over the past days, resulting in a large number of martyrs and injured, at least twelve martyrs including children and women, in a massacre in the town of Kfar Raman - Nabatiye.

The continuation and escalation of these attacks by the Israeli Army, alongside brutal demolition and detonation operations in the south, leaves no room for doubt regarding its aggressive intentions, violates international laws, threatens existing understandings and arrangements, hinders the Army's efforts to establish stability, and constitutes a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and security.

The Lebanese Army has demonstrated full readiness to fulfill its commitments since signing the framework agreement, and has begun implementing necessary measures to establish operational control in model areas in coordination with the Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon, according to the plan prepared by the Army Command. It should be noted that full agreement has not yet been reached on the stages of these areas or subsequent steps. The Army's measures included:

- Establishment of six fixed checkpoints and thirteen observation points along roads leading to the towns of Zouk el-Fawqa, Froun, and Soura, as well as within these towns.

- Continuous foot and vehicle patrols.

- Removal and confiscation of unexploded weapons and ammunition, and prevention of armed groups and unauthorized activities in accordance with Lebanese laws. Military units have confiscated approximately 1,818 weapons and ammunition items, including ten rocket launchers, seven rockets, six drones, fifty-one mortars, ten aerial bombs, and 1,560 pieces of light ammunition, in addition to a large number of mines and explosive devices. These units have also cleared roads totaling approximately twelve kilometers.

- Search of several homes in accordance with Lebanese laws and with owners' consent. Here, local residents fully cooperated with Army actions aimed at removing sources of danger and war remnants.

Alongside operational measures, military units have taken steps toward safe return of residents by clearing debris and opening roads, and activating civil-military cooperation activities to provide essential needs for the population. Military units also participated in recovering the bodies of martyrs.

These measures have enabled operational control by the Army and allowed regulation of entry and exit movements within the operational zone.

In the town of Zouk el-Fawqa, about seventy percent of residents have returned to the town to inspect their properties, but only sixteen percent have managed to settle permanently—equivalent to sixty families out of four hundred and fifty—since the Israeli Army destroyed eighty-five percent of homes completely and fifteen percent partially.

In contrast to the Army’s compliance, Israeli Army forces have not adhered to the agreement. The number of violations reached approximately seven thousand and seventy since the framework agreement was signed on June 26, 2026, up to the present date. Additionally, the Israeli Army fired shots near Army personnel and patrols.

These repeated attacks and violations, especially the most recent ones, have triggered a new wave of displacement from areas previously considered safe, confirming that the Israeli Army’s objective is to undermine the credibility of the Lebanese Army both domestically and before the international community.

Halting attacks and violations is the key factor for the Army to complete its deployment and carry out its duties under the framework agreement.
