After playing his final match for Lazio, Pedro shared that he tried to convince several former teammates, including Lionel Messi and David de Gea, to transfer to the Italian club. The 38-year-old Spanish winger reflected on these efforts following an emotional farewell game on Saturday.

Pedro concluded his time at Lazio with a goal in a comeback win against Pisa, marking the end of his tenure at the club. In an interview with Lazio's official YouTube channel, he confirmed that his stint in Rome has ended after making 209 appearances and scoring 39 goals. Despite his personal achievements, Lazio finished ninth in Serie A this season and did not qualify for any European competitions.

Players Pedro Tried to Bring to Lazio

During his time in Italy, Pedro took on an unofficial role as a recruiter, attempting to attract notable players to Lazio. He mentioned trying to persuade Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and David de Gea to join the club. "I always tried," Pedro said when asked about convincing former teammates. "Even with Messi, obviously it was not easy (laughs). Then Jordi Alba and De Gea when they were free agents. I also remember speaking about Bartra with Sarri. And David Luiz. I would have loved to let them experience the passion of our fans."

Pedro’s Career Achievements

Pedro leaves Italian football with a highly decorated career. He won the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championship in 2012 with Spain. At the club level, his time at Barcelona included three Champions League titles, five La Liga championships, and two Club World Cups. Additionally, he achieved success in England with Chelsea, securing one Premier League title, the Europa League, and an FA Cup.

Future Prospects for Pedro

Having ended his period in Italy, Pedro has not yet announced his next destination. He urged unity among Lazio’s players, staff, and supporters in his farewell message. "The first thing is to find union again between the squad, fans and club, all pulling in the same direction," he said. "I am certain that in a few years Lazio will return to winning trophies and fighting for Europe. And I hope to come back one day to help."
