Although Real Madrid's competitive performance has declined over the last two seasons, triggering an unexpected internal election process, the allure of the club's white jersey has not diminished.

The Spanish newspaper "AS," closely associated with the club, reported that Real Madrid, which holds 15 UEFA Champions League titles, continues to be the most enticing destination for football stars. Many players are either waiting for their chance or desperately seeking to associate their names with the club, whether out of genuine desire to join or to strengthen their negotiating positions with other teams.

Forbes recently ranked Real Madrid as the most valuable football club globally in 2026, with a valuation of $9.5 billion, underscoring its dominance in both the sports and financial arenas.

With club members preparing to vote in upcoming elections on Sunday, sources told the Spanish newspaper that this electoral process has slowed the movements of numerous players eager to wear the "merengue" shirt. These players have exercised extreme caution to avoid any missteps that could jeopardize their sporting futures.

The list of potential signings for Real Madrid has notably expanded in recent weeks. Spanish star Rodri Hernández has been the most frequently mentioned name. Although the club's management at Valdebebas has consistently denied direct contact with him, "AS" revealed that a candidate for the club presidency recently mentioned his name. Meanwhile, those close to the Manchester City player firmly deny any agreement.

Reports indicate that Real Madrid and Manchester City's Spanish international Rodri share a mutual and sincere interest in collaborating in the future, marking early signs of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Additionally, the Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva was presented to Real Madrid's management by his well-known agent Jorge Mendes. However, the club preferred to distance itself from this deal, leaving the primary competition for Silva's signature between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.

"AS" analyzed that the situation could change dramatically if Portuguese coach José Mourinho ultimately assumes the managerial position at Real Madrid.

Media reports have confirmed that José Mourinho has signed an official contract to return as Real Madrid's head coach for a second term, spanning three years until June 2029.

On the defensive front, the Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol has emerged as a notable name through social media channels managed by a former Real Madrid player. According to the newspaper, Gvardiol has always been on Real Madrid's agenda. The main obstacle remains the €80 million Manchester City paid to acquire him, although the fact that he has only two years left on his contract and openly desires to wear the white jersey favors Real Madrid.

British broadcaster BBC recently revealed a major surprise regarding the future of Chelsea star Enzo Fernández, just days before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

The list of names reported by "AS" did not end there. The newspaper confirmed that Argentine Enzo Fernández is making strenuous efforts to find a path to join Real Madrid in the Spanish capital. Simultaneously, other Portuguese players such as Vitinha and João Neves have been mentioned, with the newspaper suggesting these names align more closely with the desires of Real Madrid fans than with current realities. Nonetheless, the ongoing election atmosphere has sparked a wave of optimism about major signings.

In an official statement, Liverpool Football Club announced the departure of French international defender Ibrahima Konaté after his contract expired, with no renewal agreement reached between the parties.

"AS" concluded its report by noting that the French defender Ibrahima Konaté has returned to Real Madrid's radar, leveraging his free-agent status as an international player. This situation offers any interested club a blank check opportunity to strengthen their defensive line.
