The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday that its Aerospace Forces conducted airstrikes against a power generation facility located near the Ukrainian city of Sumy. The statement also confirmed attacks targeting a military unit within the Zaporizhzhia region.

Aerial bomb deployment details

In a specific briefing, the ministry reported that Russian aircraft struck a temporary assembly point for the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This engagement took place in the settlement of Dmytrivka, situated in the Zaporizhzhia province.

The operation utilized FAB-3000 aerial bombs, which were dropped from the air onto the identified target location. These heavy munitions represent a significant escalation in firepower directed at frontline troop concentrations.

Energy infrastructure impacts

A separate release from the ministry detailed ongoing overnight drone raids aimed at Ukrainian energy facilities and naval assets belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Officials stated that these operations resulted in damage to an energy storage battery complex in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region.

This facility had been supplying electricity to enterprises involved in Ukraine's military-industrial sector. Additionally, the report noted the targeting of a dry cargo vessel at the port of Odesa while it was being loaded with dual-use goods destined for Ukraine.

Regional security incidents

Emergency services in Avdeevsky, a town within Russia’s Krasnodar region, reported a fire breaking out at an industrial site following a drone attack. No further details regarding the extent of the damage or casualties were provided by local authorities.

Winter campaign context

The Institute for the Study of War indicated that recent strikes mark the commencement of a winter campaign designed to degrade Ukraine’s energy grid and increase the economic and social costs of the conflict. During the first days of November, specifically on the third and fourth, Russia launched a massive assault involving hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles.

These broad-scale attacks hit power installations across multiple regions, causing widespread blackouts. United Nations data recorded in a June report documented 423 attacks on electricity generation, transmission, and distribution facilities, alongside 74 strikes on heating and thermal energy infrastructure.
