Shobier says Al Ahly is moving against Zamalek
Ahmed Shobier said Al Ahly is preparing a legal file on Zamalek’s cases and debts over the African licence.

Egyptian broadcaster Ahmed Shobier said Al Ahly is preparing moves against its traditional rival Zamalek over the club’s position on obtaining the African licence for participation in the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League.
Shobier made the remarks on television during the programme "Al-Nazir" on Al Hayah channel, saying: "Al Ahly is preparing a legal file on Zamalek’s position, its international cases and its debts, to use it if the club obtains the African participation licence in an illegal way".
He added: "The Football Association will not be able to grant Zamalek the licence unless all cases are settled and with official documents, and Al Ahly is preparing a complete file on Zamalek’s position and is determined that matters proceed in the official way".
League title and continental places
Zamalek were officially crowned Egyptian league champions on Wednesday after a financially difficult season and 15 registration bans against the club. The title was their 15th in history and their first since 2022.
The team sealed the championship after beating Ceramica Cleopatra 1-0 in the final round, played last Wednesday at Cairo International Stadium. Zamalek and Pyramids are set to play in next season’s CAF Champions League, while Al Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra will take part in the Confederation Cup.
