He sold his car for this bet, then tragedy struck at minute 90
A supporter sold his vehicle to place high-stakes wagers on a Champions League match, only to see the draw ruin his plans.

A social media user revealed he had sold his Honda automobile to place substantial bets on Fenerbahçe’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Slavia Prague. The wagering strategy collapsed when the match ended in a 2-2 draw during the 90th minute, nullifying two coupons totaling 1.1 million Turkish Lira.
Betting stakes and potential returns
The individual shared screenshots of two distinct betting slips focused on the third-round group stage encounter. The first ticket involved a 100,000 TL stake on a 2-1 final scoreline for Fenerbahçe, carrying odds of 7.46 and a projected payout of 746,000 TL. The second slip required 1 million TL on a Fenerbahçe victory combined with both teams scoring, featuring odds of 2.55 and an expected return of 2.55 million TL.
Combined, these investments amounted to 1.1 million TL, with the total potential winnings reaching 3.296 million TL. In his online post, the bettor stated, "I sold my Honda, I bet on Fener. God forgive you, if it comes, I'll pull the one on the right under me..." He also included an image of a sales listing for a BMW vehicle, indicating his intention to purchase that specific car if the bets succeeded.
Match timeline and outcome
Fenerbahçe took an early lead at home, with Oğuz Aydın scoring in the fourth minute and Greenwood adding another goal in the 11th minute. The Czech side reduced the deficit through Provod in the 15th minute. For a significant portion of the game, the score remained 2-1 in favor of the Turkish club, keeping the bettor's hopes alive until the final moments.
The situation changed drastically in the 90th minute when Kacor scored for Slavia Prague, leveling the match at 2-2. This late equalizer invalidated both betting options, as neither a straight win nor the specific 2-1 scoreline materialized. The user’s plan to acquire a 2016 model BMW 420d M Sport Coupe, listed for sale at 2.178 million TL, was thwarted by the result.
The incident highlights the financial risks associated with high-volume sports gambling, particularly when outcomes hinge on stoppage-time events. The bettor’s public disclosure of selling his primary vehicle to fund the wagers drew attention on social platforms following the match conclusion.
