The World Health Organization has reported six confirmed and two suspected infections of the deadly Hantavirus as of May 8.

As of May 8, six confirmed infections and two suspected cases of the deadly Hantavirus have been recorded, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced. Laboratory tests have identified all confirmed cases as belonging to the "Andes" strain, according to Reuters.
Genetic analysis conducted on the samples showed a match with this known viral strain, the organization stated. Health authorities are continuing to monitor the cases and track contacts.
Hantavirus is a rare viral disease typically transmitted through rodents or their droppings. In some instances, it can lead to severe respiratory or hemorrhagic complications.
