Al-Rafei Discusses Infrastructure and Transport Development Projects with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tripoli Port

Acting Governor of North Lebanon, Iman Al-Rafei, received in her office at the Tripoli Serail, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tripoli Port, Iskandar Kosti Bendali, and board members Sara Al-Sharif and Engineer Nour Alam El-Din, in the presence of the Head of the Governorate Department, Qaimaqam Ruba Al-Shafshaq. They discussed a number of vital and development projects that the Port Board of Directors intends to implement in the short and long term, to enhance the position of Tripoli Port as a key economic and strategic facility at the level of Lebanon and the region. The meeting touched on the project to launch a tender for the modernization and rehabilitation of the railway line linking Tripoli Port to the Lebanese-Syrian border via the Al-Aboudiyeh area.

Bendali affirmed that "the Port Administration is working according to an integrated development vision aimed at modernizing infrastructure, enhancing logistics services, and raising the port's operational capacity, in line with economic transformations and the requirements of the next phase."

He also detailed the stages of the plan and its implementation mechanisms, noting that "the railway project constitutes a strategic step that could see the light in the not-too-distant future if the required procedures are completed and the tender is launched on schedule."

Bendali praised "Al-Rafei's follow-up and her keenness to support development and vital projects in the city of Tripoli and the North, and her cooperation with various official departments and institutions to serve the public interest and drive development in the region."

He also presented a number of projects that the Port Administration will begin implementing in the near term, aimed at "developing the port's performance, enhancing its economic and commercial role, and transforming it into a pivotal center for maritime traffic, transport, and logistics services in the Mediterranean basin."

For her part, Al-Rafei stressed "the great importance of these projects, which constitute a real economic lever for the city of Tripoli and the North, as they will provide job opportunities for young men and women, and generate economic and investment activity in various sectors related to the port, transport, and services," affirming that "Tripoli Port possesses all the components that qualify it to be a main platform for nearby and distant ports, and a promising economic gateway for Lebanon towards Arab and regional markets."

She thanked Bendali and the members of the Port Board of Directors for "the efforts they are making and the dedication to work to develop Tripoli Port and enhance its economic and commercial standing," praising "the development vision adopted by the Board to raise the level of services and modernize infrastructure, which will positively reflect on the city, the North, and the Lebanese economy in general," stressing "the Governorate's keenness to follow up on these projects and provide all possible administrative facilities to ensure their success and accelerate their implementation in service of the public interest."
