Aoun: We Reject South Being Left 'Forgotten' or a Negotiation Tool

Lebanese President Michel Aoun, on the 48th anniversary of the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his companions, affirmed his rejection of "the south remaining a forgotten region or a negotiation tool," stating that "the weapon protecting the land is the legitimate weapon of the state alone."

President Aoun added: "We are working to achieve what the missing Imam desired: a strong, just state, with the south protected by its army and security forces, and strengthened by the resilience of its people and the strength of the state together," noting that "the file of Imam Musa al-Sadr's disappearance is an open national and humanitarian issue, and we will continue demanding full disclosure of the truth about his fate and that of his companions."
