Beyruti: The Framework Agreement Is Gone... I'm Not Optimistic!

Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri said that "the situation is dangerous and all solutions are far away; the framework agreement is gone, and if the Israeli wants to occupy, he can do so."

He added in a media interview, responding to a question about his satisfaction with the government's performance: "You will see accountability." But will there be accountability in parliament? Berri replied: "There will be accountability."

Regarding the government's policy of imposing fees and taxes on citizens, Berri stated: "The state wants its own resources, and it doesn't have to take resources from those who want to contribute."

As for the role of the Lebanese Army at this stage, as Israel escalates and expands the scope of its attacks, Berri emphasized that "the army is the cornerstone, indeed the fundamental bridge for Lebanese construction."

On his relationship with President Joseph Aoun, he clarified: "It exists, even if we disagree," and continued: "We differ on several matters. But that does not prevent our friendship."

Berri also pointed out that he is not optimistic, and "the greatest proof of my lack of optimism is what is happening—killings, martyrs including children, and acts of demolition and destruction. Their actions are meaningless. Unfortunately, there are no solutions."
