Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bu Saab announced that "the proposed general amnesty law preserved the right of the families of army martyrs not to drop their personal right in civil judiciary, as the army was not a party to the conflicts," calling on the government and the Minister of Justice to find a radical solution for trials and not to detain people without cause.
Bu Saab also pointed out that "we took into consideration the observations of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, and the army," stressing that "the judiciary is responsible for the delay in many cases."
Bu Saab explained that "the issue of merger was controversial, and today we restored matters to their proper state on this issue, and the article remained as it is," noting that "regarding the death penalty, 28 years of imprisonment were adopted, i.e., approximately 21.5 actual years."
