Customs Extends Import Deadlines for Tourist Vehicles and Yachts

The Director General of Customs, Gracia El Kazzi, issued a memorandum ruling to extend the temporary import deadlines for motor vehicles and yachts temporarily imported into Lebanon for tourism purposes. It stated:

"Given the continuation of the exceptional circumstances the country is going through, and to alleviate burdens on those concerned, we have decided the following:

1- The temporary import deadlines for cars, yachts, and motorcycles temporarily imported into Lebanon for tourism purposes, under temporary entry declarations of form (IM5) or international customs carnets, or temporary import permits, whose granted deadlines are valid between the date of issuance of this memorandum and the date of 31/8/2026, are extended until 31/8/2026 inclusive. The extension also includes the aforementioned motor vehicles whose stay period was extended under our memoranda No. 8260/2026, dated 2/4/2026 and 15/5/2026, or until the validity date of the international customs carnets if their validity expires before 31/8/2026.

2- The deadline for approvals granted to settle the temporary import status (re-export - placement for domestic consumption) for the items covered by this memorandum is extended until 31/8/2026 inclusive, provided that the granted settlement deadline falls between the date of issuance of this memorandum and the date of 31/8/2026. The extension also includes settlement deadlines extended under our memoranda No. 8260/2026, dated 2/4/2026 and 15/5/2026.

The provisions of this memorandum do not apply to the mentioned items whose specified deadlines expired before the date of issuance of our memorandum No. 8260/2026, dated 2/4/2026, where any delay remains until the date of submission of requests to settle the status.

For information, taking necessary action, and posting a copy of this memorandum on the bulletin board in each customs unit."
