The General Directorate of Customs issued the following statement:

"The Anti-Smuggling Investigation Division of the General Directorate of Customs continues its 24/7 surveillance, monitoring, and field follow-up operations to combat smuggling and protect citizens from the circulation of goods outside regulatory channels, particularly those affecting their safety, health, and food security.

In this context, the division executed two seizure operations in the city of Tripoli. In the first operation, following surveillance and tracking, a large quantity of smuggled and counterfeit skincare products was seized, raising serious questions about their actual ingredients, compliance with specifications, and safety for use, given that they are counterfeits and did not enter through legal channels.

In the second operation, a force from the division seized a large quantity of smuggled ghee of Syrian origin, estimated at approximately two tons. The illicit entry of these food items raises issues regarding verification of safety standards, particularly concerning transportation and storage conditions and their suitability for consumption.

In both operations, the owners of the goods were taken into custody, and the seized items were transferred to the specialized center to complete the necessary legal procedures.

The General Directorate of Customs affirms that combating smuggling is not limited to protecting state revenues but also includes safeguarding markets and citizens from the risks of smuggled and counterfeit goods, especially when they come into direct contact with their health and nutrition. It calls on citizens to be vigilant about the sources of the products they purchase and to report any activity suspected of being linked to smuggling."
