Customs Seizes Over a Ton of Fake Foreign Clothing and Large Quantities of Smuggled Shoes

The General Directorate of Customs announced that the Land Border Anti-Smuggling Unit at Saida Customs Office succeeded, as part of its continuous operations against smuggling and counterfeit goods, in seizing over one ton of counterfeit and smuggled foreign clothing, along with large quantities of counterfeit and smuggled foreign footwear, during enforcement operations conducted by the unit.

The seized goods were detained according to procedures, and violators were taken to the unit’s headquarters for legal action under the supervision of the competent judiciary.

These operations are part of the General Directorate of Customs’ strict stance against smuggled and counterfeit goods, which create unfair competition for law-abiding businesses and harm the legitimate economy, while also depriving the state treasury of due customs duties and taxes.

The General Directorate of Customs reaffirmed its commitment to continuing operations across Lebanese territory, intensifying border and internal surveillance to combat all forms of smuggling, especially illicit medicines and food products, and anything threatening human health and food safety, while simultaneously protecting the legitimate economy and the Lebanese market.
