Energy Ministry Responds to Yaacoubian: The Zouk and Jieh Plants File Not Yet Finalized
The Energy Ministry clarifies that the file regarding the Zouk and Jieh power plants remains unresolved, despite claims of closure since March. It also confirms ongoing legal proceedings and pending investigations into Russian oil shipments.

Issued by the media office of the Ministry of Energy: "It appears the matter became unclear for Member of Parliament Paula Yacoubian during her statement in the government questioning session, as she addressed the ongoing legal dispute between the Lebanese Electricity Authority and the operator of the Zouk and Jieh plants, which is preventing their operation. She mentioned that the file had been referred to preservation since March. However, there is another ongoing legal dispute still under review by the Chamber of Appeal at the Council of State.
Regarding Russian oil, we wish to clarify that Minister Jou al-Sadi submitted a report on 23/9/2025 detailing all vessels arriving in Lebanon after the imposition of European and American sanctions on Russia, and no decision has yet been made on it. Hence, clarification was necessary.
