French Acting Ambassador Visits Rmeish and Ayn Ebel to Support Education and Nutrition

The Embassy of France in Lebanon issued a statement indicating that "in the context of continued severe hardship in southern Lebanon due to the war, the Acting Ambassador Bruno Pereira da Silva visited Rmeish and Ayn Ebel."

It clarified that this visit focused on supporting elected local officials and residents, and highlighting France's efforts in the fields of education and nutrition.

It noted that "in both Rmeish and Ayn Ebel, meetings were held with the municipal councils to demonstrate France's commitment to serving communities in southern Lebanon, and during the visit, challenges facing these two isolated villages, their priorities, and the needs of their populations were discussed."

In Rmeish, "discussions were held with beneficiaries of the 'Food Security and Nutrition' project, funded by France and implemented by the French NGO Action Against Hunger. While the war exacerbates living conditions instability, this project helps meet basic needs for families, nursing mothers, and young children in early childhood."

At the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts School in Ayn Ebel, members of the teaching staff and students shared their personal experiences during the conflict period.

It was considered that "in a context burdened by war and geographic isolation, preserving access to education and empowering youth to continue their studies is essential to France's commitment to Lebanon."
