The Full-Time Faculty Association at the Lebanese University: Approval of the Full-Time Status File Is No Longer an Option

The Executive Board of the Association of Full-Time Faculty at the Lebanese University announced in a statement that it "held a meeting to discuss several files on the agenda and examined the extent of procrastination and delay in the matter of full-time status for hourly-contracted faculty, despite years having passed since promises and government decisions that have not materialized."

It emphasized that "approving the full-time status file is no longer an option, but a national and academic obligation that cannot be postponed," stating: "It is a right for contracted colleagues who meet the criteria based on academic competence, seniority, and the university's actual needs, while safeguarding social cohesion and national balance."

It pointed out that "continuing to ignore this file perpetuates a state of injustice and instability affecting a broad segment of colleagues and undermines the national university's ability to fulfill its role," urging "all relevant parties in the government to take concrete actions and make immediate, serious efforts to implement their previous promises and decisions regarding this file, with the essential provision of financial allocations for the university and the Faculty Staff Mutual Aid Fund to cover the resulting financial burdens."

It noted that "any further delay or disregard of this entitlement will push conditions toward irreversible consequences," affirming that "it will not remain idle, nor will it compromise in defending the rights of faculty and the university. All escalation options are on the table to defend faculty rights and correct the situation, and it is ready to confront the authorities until this demand is met."
