The head of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, received at the party's general headquarters in Maarab a delegation from the Union of Municipalities of Southern Metn, comprising the union's president Edmond Gharios, vice president Jean Assmar, secretary Pierre Bajjani, and treasurer Rizk Samman, in the presence of member of the "Strong Republic" bloc Pierre Bou Assi and regional coordinator Georges Mazhar.

The meeting was an occasion to discuss the developmental and service reality in the towns of Southern Metn, and to pause at the most prominent challenges facing municipal work and the union of municipalities under the current economic and financial conditions, and their repercussions on the ability of local administrations to implement projects and secure basic services for citizens.

The union delegation presented to Geagea the most prominent priorities raised at the regional level, especially projects related to developing infrastructure, improving the public services network, and supporting local initiatives that contribute to enhancing developmental and social stability, in addition to the need to strengthen the capabilities of municipalities and enable them to perform their role more effectively in responding to the increasing needs of the residents.

The attendees also discussed the reality of cooperation among municipalities within the framework of the union, and the importance of adopting a joint approach in managing local projects and plans, allowing for greater integration of efforts and directing available capabilities towards priority projects, positively reflecting on balanced development in the various towns.

In the context of the meeting, the delegation members expressed their appreciation for the approach adopted by the Lebanese Forces party in addressing national and developmental issues, affirming their support and backing for the policies adopted by the party, especially those related to state-building, strengthening institutions, and entrenching the principles of good governance, transparency, and balanced development. They also stressed that this support stems from a conviction of the necessity of integrating national and developmental work to serve the interest of the Lebanese and lay the foundation for a just state capable of responding to the aspirations of citizens, while affirming their readiness for cooperation and coordination in everything that serves the region and its people.

Geagea, for his part, affirmed that municipalities and their unions play a pivotal role in maintaining the continuity of local work and meeting the needs of citizens, especially under the exceptional circumstances the country is going through, considering that local development begins with effective administration, setting priorities, and integrating roles among the various concerned parties.

Geagea also stressed the necessity of continuing to support developmental initiatives that contribute to enhancing the resilience and development of regions, affirming follow-up on the files and issues raised during the meeting within available capabilities, and in a way that serves the interest of the towns of Southern Metn and their people and enhances development opportunities there.
