Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Hajjar received Director General of General Security Major General Hassan Choucair in his office. The meeting reviewed the security situation in the country, as well as the measures and procedures taken by the General Security Directorate within its mission to maintain security and combat crimes of all forms.

Minister Hajjar praised the operation carried out by the General Security Directorate, which relied on precise monitoring and surveillance of a cocaine shipment since its departure from Ghana until its arrival in Lebanon via Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport. Coordination with the Customs Directorate at the airport enabled the necessary actions to be taken to inspect and seize the shipment.

He considered that this operation reflects the level of readiness and professionalism in security work, emphasizing the importance of coordination, cooperation, and information exchange between security agencies and relevant administrations, particularly in vital facilities. This allows for thwarting smuggling attempts and confronting networks active in drug and contraband trade.

Minister Hajjar affirmed that protecting the security of society and the nation is a shared responsibility, requiring continued vigilance, activation of proactive work, and enhanced integration among relevant agencies to ensure countering risks and threats and safeguarding citizens' safety and security. He stressed that Lebanon will not serve as a transit route for drugs into Lebanese society or to brotherly and friendly countries.
