Here is the Pricing of Private Generators for July 2026...

The Ministry of Energy announced in a statement issued by its media office that the fair price for private electric generator tariffs for the month of July is as follows:

40.746 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.

- For subscribers with meters in cities or densely populated areas or at an altitude of less than 700 meters: - Capacity 5 amperes: 385,000 L.L. + monthly flat rate 40.746 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.

- Capacity 10 amperes: 685,000 L.L. + monthly flat rate x 40.746 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.

44.821 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.

- For subscribers with meters in villages or remote areas or at an altitude of more than 700 meters: - Capacity 5 amperes: 385,000 L.L. (fixed) + monthly flat rate x 44.821 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.

- Capacity 10 amperes: 685,000 L.L. (fixed) + monthly flat rate x 44.821 L.L. per kilowatt-hour.

- An additional 300,000 L.L. is added to the fixed portion of the meter tariff for each additional 5 amperes.

This tariff is based on the average price of a diesel can (20 liters) in July, which amounted to 1,992,150 L.L., after calculating all expenses, interest, and costs of the generators, in addition to a good profit margin for their owners. We have taken into account, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the cost of distributing the can from the fuel station to the generator.

It also takes into account, in calculating its basic components such as the cost of oils, filters, and generator depreciation, the monthly average exchange rate of the dollar in the parallel market, which reached 89,700 L.L.

This tariff was issued based on the calculation table approved by the Ministry of Energy since 14/10/2010; and in application of the Council of Ministers decision No. 2 issued on 14/12/2011 regarding taking necessary measures to control the pricing of private generators, and based on the joint implementation mechanism between ministries (Energy, Interior, and Economy) announced on 20/12/2011, which defined the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy and Water in circulating the pricing of private generators based on diesel prices at the end of each month.

Hence, the Ministry of Energy and Water calls on generator owners to comply with the decision of the Ministry of Economy and Trade stipulating mandatory installation of meters. It will conduct a documented study in this regard in the coming period to update the adopted equation to better suit exchange rate fluctuations and the economic and social situation of citizens, while taking into account the requirements of private generator owners.

The Ministry of Energy and Water also announces that it has sent letters to the Ministries of Interior and Economy regarding the July 2026 tariff to take the necessary action according to the joint control mechanism.

The Ministry of Energy and Water draws the attention of private generator owners and dear citizens to the impermissibility of adding the following additions to the guiding tariff issued by the ministry:

1- Value added tax not legally justified by official registration with the VAT Directorate at the Ministry of Finance.

2- Additional fees or amounts under any pretext, such as the cost of maintenance of a generator or networks or others...

3- Additional fees for citizens who use solar energy devices alongside private generators.

Here, the Ministry of Energy calls on those concerned with consumer protection, especially the Ministry of Economy and Trade, to tighten control over the proper application of the above guiding tariff and to take maximum measures against violators, with the follow-up of the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities and the competent judiciary.
