Hezbollah Funding Case Before Kuwaiti Courts.. Prison Sentences for Lebanese Man, Millions in Fines

Issued by the State Security Court of Appeal in Kuwait, rulings imposing imprisonment and fines were handed down against five suspects in two separate cases related to joining and financing "Hezbollah," following investigations and inquiries conducted by the State Security Agency and the Financial Investigation Unit.

In the first case, the court upheld a verdict from the Criminal Court sentencing three Kuwaiti nationals and one Lebanese national to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of joining and financing "Hezbollah." The convicted were also ordered to pay a fine of 6 million Kuwaiti dinars, equivalent to approximately $19.4 million.

Conversely, the court acquitted other suspects in the same case, including a Kuwaiti woman.

In a second case, the court sentenced a Kuwaiti national to seven years in prison and imposed a fine of 6 million Kuwaiti dinars after finding him guilty of joining and financing "Hezbollah," with the funding operations carried out through a charity committee previously linked to individuals who had already received final judgments from Kuwait's Court of Cassation.

Both cases were based on findings from investigations conducted by the State Security Agency and the Financial Investigation Unit, which included tracking financial flows, their routes, and the beneficiaries, before being referred to the competent judicial authorities.

Thus, the rulings affected five convicted individuals, including a Lebanese national, while the first case ended in the acquittal of several other suspects.
