Hinna al-Sayid: Developing Ministry Centers Is a Priority to Serve Regions

Minister of Social Affairs Hinna al-Sayid held a meeting at the ministry with several deputies from Tripoli, Akkar, and Miniyeh-Danniyeh, including deputies Aashraf Rifi, Taha Najji, Jamil Aboud, Sajeeb Atiya, Jimmy Jabour, Muhammad Suleiman, Ehab Matar, and Ahmad al-Khair, as part of ongoing efforts to monitor regional conditions and social needs, and to enhance coordination between the ministry and deputies on priorities in social protection.

The meeting primarily focused on the "Aman" program, mechanisms for reaching the most vulnerable families, case follow-up, inquiries related to the program, and the continuation of funding for the program in the coming phase.

In this context, al-Sayid emphasized the importance of "approving additional financing of 200 million dollars for the Aman program from the World Bank, pending submission to the General Council of the Parliament for voting, as it represents a key element in ensuring the program's continuity and expansion to include a larger number of the most vulnerable families." She also stressed the importance of supporting this path in Parliament, noting that the continuity of Aman is a national priority within the social protection system.

The meeting also discussed the current state of the ministry's development service centers in Tripoli, Akkar, and Miniyeh-Danniyeh, the services they provide, challenges faced by some centers regarding buildings, equipment, human resources, and operations, as well as essential social needs in these regions amid growing economic and social pressures.

al-Sayid affirmed that "development service centers must be real operational hubs for the state in these regions, close to people and their daily needs," noting that "the ministry is working to activate and strengthen these centers in cooperation with municipalities and partners, according to the actual priorities and needs of each region."

She also highlighted that "the ministry is simultaneously working to develop the social protection system and better link social assistance to services and opportunities for economic inclusion, helping families and individuals gradually transition from dependency on aid to more sustainable opportunities."

It was agreed to continue coordination and follow-up between the ministry and deputies on priority social issues in Tripoli, Akkar, and Miniyeh-Danniyeh, contributing to improved access to ministry services and better responsiveness to regional needs.
