Iran's Foreign Minister Calls for Israeli Withdrawal from Lebanon and Halt to Attacks
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi urges Israel to withdraw from Lebanese territories and stop its attacks, emphasizing U.S. responsibility and regional security issues.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized that Israel must withdraw from the areas it occupies in Lebanon and cease its attacks, stating that this responsibility lies with the U.S. government. He highlighted that the memorandum of understanding should remain on course, with its primary clause being the cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Baghdad, Araqchi asserted that Iran is responsible for the opening and management of the Strait of Hormuz without interference from any other party. He warned that unilateral actions would complicate the situation and escalate tensions. Araqchi clarified that the Strait of Hormuz is under Iranian administration and that once obstacles are removed, conditions will return to their previous state. He added that no party bears responsibility for the strait's operation other than Iran, and any contrary actions violate the memorandum of understanding with Washington.
He further noted that his visit to Baghdad occurs under special circumstances, with the Iraqi government holding significant positions condemning aggression against Iran. Araqchi indicated that discussions in Baghdad would cover cooperation in economic and security fields, as well as coordination regarding the funeral ceremonies of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He affirmed Iran's determination to continue strategic cooperation with the Iraqi government.
