Former Lebanese Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar clarified that "the Lebanese state has the right to reject any ambassador without giving a reason, and security forces can arrest the Iranian ambassador the moment he leaves his country's embassy."

He added in an interview with MFM: "Any alternative solution to the Iranian ambassador issue would be a violation of Lebanese sovereignty, and the only solution is his departure from Lebanon."

Najjar said: "I would never have agreed to the amnesty law, and what was passed today is arbitrary, selective, and political, intended to settle accounts with Syria, those who went to Israel, and the Lebanese state; it can be challenged after publication."
