The Israeli military announced on Thursday that an explosive device detonated against a foot patrol in the Litani region of southern Lebanon, resulting in the death of an officer and injuries to seven other soldiers.

According to an Israeli army statement, the deceased was a reservist officer holding the rank of First Sergeant named Alexander Filin. The statement also reported that three soldiers sustained moderate injuries, while four others, including a female recruit, suffered minor wounds.

Israel's Hebrew Broadcasting Corporation reported that the force operating in southern Lebanon encountered the explosion during an operation in the area, which caused the death of Filin and injuries to several officers and soldiers.

The report added that among the wounded were the deputy commander of the 36th Division and a reserve battalion commander from the 556th Transport Division. Initial investigations suggest that the explosive device was planted by Hezbollah on the roadside in the Litani area.
