The Information Technology Committee approved a draft law to create an IT department within the Ministry of Education and postponed discussion on banning electronic gambling games.

The Information Technology Committee held a session chaired by its head, MP Tony Frangieh, with the attendance of its rapporteur, MP Elias Hankash, and committee members MPs Nicola Sahnaoui, Ashraf Baydoun, Yanal Solh, Razi Al-Hajj, and Adeeb Abd Al-Masih.
Also present at the meeting were the proposer of the draft law aiming to establish an Information Technology department within the Ministry of Education and Higher Education staff, MP Bilal Abdullah; the parliamentary education committee representative, MP Edgar Traboulsi; and legal expert Attorney Antoine Fneianos.
Following discussion and deliberation, the committee approved the draft law submitted to the Education Committee with some amendments.
The committee also addressed a draft law seeking the immediate ban of electronic gambling games in general but postponed the discussion to a future session due to the absence of representatives from Casino Lebanon.
