The National News Agency reported that "the Public Prosecutor of the Special Court, Judge Ahmad Rami Hajj, has decided to hand over former Syrian Colonel Adel Ayyash, currently detained in Lebanon, to Syrian authorities for prosecution on charges related to crimes allegedly committed on Syrian territory."

The decision was based on the 1951 Lebanese-Syrian judicial cooperation agreement, following the Lebanese judiciary's determination that all legal and procedural conditions for extradition were met.

Judge Hajj instructed the Central Criminal Investigation Department to transfer Colonel Adel Ayyash from the Beirut courthouse detention facility to the General Directorate of General Security, in preparation for his handover and transportation to the Lebanon-Syria border, where he will be handed over to a Syrian security committee stationed on the Syrian side of the border.
