EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said today, Tuesday, that more than 10 EU member states are ready to contribute their resources and personnel to a new military and civilian mission to advise and train the Lebanese army.

The proposed mission aims to strengthen Lebanon's internal security forces, allowing the Lebanese army to focus on disarming the Hezbollah militia.

The discussion about sending an EU mission to Lebanon comes as the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) nears its end, with the mandate set to expire at the end of 2026.
