Lebanese Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani met with the Italian military mission leader to discuss challenges and support strategies for Lebanon's agricultural sector.

Lebanon's Minister of Agriculture, Nizar Hani, received the commander of the Italian bilateral military mission in Lebanon, MIBIL, to discuss the current state of the agricultural sector and its challenges during the ongoing period. The meeting also covered the Ministry of Agriculture’s strategy and priorities aimed at revitalizing the sector and strengthening its resilience.
The discussion addressed the negative impacts of the war on agriculture, focusing on the damage inflicted on farmers, agricultural production, and related infrastructure. The ministry's efforts to support farmers, ensure continued production, and achieve food security were also reviewed.
Minister Hani presented the ministry’s vision and reform plan designed to promote sustainable agricultural development. He emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with international partners and providing technical and logistical support to farmers and the agricultural sector during this critical phase.
The Italian military mission commander expressed interest in backing the ministry’s initiatives, affirming the mission’s readiness to continue collaboration and contribute to projects benefiting rural communities and enhancing the agricultural sector’s recovery capacity. He outlined the mission’s supported projects, including the establishment of two olive oil presses and a training laboratory at the Faculty of Agriculture at the Lebanese University. He stressed the Italian side’s willingness to maintain support for agricultural projects and initiatives proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture, aiming to strengthen sector capabilities, improve agricultural infrastructure, and support farmers’ resilience across various Lebanese regions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Italian military mission commander presented an honorary shield to Minister Hani.
