The Lebanese-European Medical Society (ELMS) met with Public Health Minister Rakan Nasser al-Din to advance two new medical cooperation projects: one on cardiac pacemaker implantation and another on orthopedic surgery.

The Lebanese-European Medical Society (ELMS) held a meeting with Lebanon’s Public Health Minister Rakan Nasser al-Din to review the society’s activities and outline new collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening the national health sector and leveraging medical expertise from both Lebanon and Europe.
ELMS delegation members included President Dr. Eli Haddad, Secretary General Dr. Nicole Jbara, and Head of the Orthopedic Surgery Committee Dr. Majed Issa. Several advisors to the Minister of Public Health also attended the session.
Two priority medical projects confirmed
During the discussion, the delegation briefed the minister on ELMS’s recent activities and ongoing initiatives in medical cooperation, patient support, and health system reinforcement. The parties agreed to move forward with two specific collaborative medical projects: the first focuses on cardiovascular disease and involves pacemaker implantation procedures; the second centers on orthopedic surgery. A foundational plan for implementing both projects was established during the meeting, with ELMS and relevant authorities set to begin coordinated work accordingly.
Commitment to specialized medical coordination
According to an official statement issued by ELMS, both sides emphasized “the importance of coordination and cooperation, which enables the provision of specialized medical support and the utilization of the society’s network of physicians and expertise in Lebanon and Europe.”
Minister Nasser al-Din expressed appreciation for “the initiatives and efforts undertaken by the society,” and affirmed the ministry’s readiness to cooperate and place its available resources at ELMS’s disposal to facilitate execution of the agreed-upon projects.
