Lebanon Prepares to Declare New Protected Area in Akkar's Al-Azhar Forest
Lebanon's Agriculture Minister confirms final steps to declare Al-Azhar Forest in Akkar a protected area, highlighting ongoing efforts to safeguard natural resources.

Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani affirmed the ministry's ongoing commitment to protecting Lebanon's nature and forests, emphasizing the importance of developing this national resource. He stressed the need to strengthen cooperation among security forces, ministries, municipalities and their unions, as well as environmental activists.
In an interview with Jabal Lubnan Radio, Minister Hani described Al-Azhar Forest in Akkar as a prominent example of these conservation efforts, noting its significance as a natural asset for both Lebanon and the world. He indicated that the necessary procedures to declare the forest a protected area are in their final stages, with the municipality and the union of municipalities completing the relevant documentation.
The minister expressed gratitude to all who have supported these initiatives and praised Jabal Lubnan Radio for its sustained efforts in highlighting environmental issues. He affirmed that such encouragement serves as a constant motivation for the ministry to continue its environmental work.
