Meeting of the Higher Council for Privatization Discusses Steps to Transform Lebanon's Electricity Authority into a Company

Prime Minister Najib Mikati chaired a meeting of the Higher Council for Privatization and Public-Private Partnerships, attended by Ministers of Energy and Water Joudeh al-Sadah, Economy and Trade Ammar al-Bassat, Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kaml Chahadeh, Justice Adel Nasser, Labor Muhammad Haydar, Public Works and Transport Fayez Rassamni, General Secretary of the Council of Ministers Judge Mahmoud Makiyyeh, and member of the Electricity Sector Regulatory Authority Sorina Murtada.

The meeting addressed the required steps to transform the Lebanon Electricity Authority into a company, within the framework of the government's priority reform path for the electricity sector, including establishing the new company, safeguarding the rights of employees during the transitional phase, and completing the assessment and transfer of assets of the Lebanon Electricity Authority.

These steps are part of efforts to restructure the electricity sector, enhance its financial sustainability, improve service levels, and recover costs, paving the way for subsequent phases of sector restructuring and contributing to resolving accumulated crises and increasing the sector's capacity to ensure sustainable power supply.
