On Elias's Visit to the South...Statement from the American Embassy

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut announced that American ambassador Michel Elias visited southern Lebanon to assess ground conditions and directly observe progress and challenges in experimental areas.

It said: "The United States is committed to supporting the Lebanese government and Lebanese Army in strengthening state authority, protecting civilians, delivering services, and creating conditions conducive to lasting peace and stability, and we will continue working with all relevant parties to support further security and stability in southern Lebanon."

The ambassador said: "My visit to southern Lebanon allowed me to directly witness the challenges facing local communities there. I deeply empathize with residents who have suffered displacement and uncertainty, and I understand their urgent desire to return home and rebuild their lives safely and with dignity."
