The Lebanese Public Health Ministry has issued an order requiring full coverage of medical and surgical care for victims of the Beirut port explosion, regardless of their insurance provider.

Issued by Minister of Public Health Rakan Nassar al-Din, the order mandates treatment of victims of the Beirut port explosion at the expense of the Ministry of Public Health, with 100% coverage for all medical, surgical, and hospital-related procedures associated with the injuries, irrespective of their insurance provider.
The order requires all government hospitals to treat explosion victims at the ministry’s expense with full coverage.
It also obliges private hospitals currently treating explosion victims to continue their treatment at the ministry’s expense with 100% coverage.
The order urges private hospitals wishing to perform any surgeries or provide any follow-up medical care needed by port explosion victims at the ministry’s expense to notify the Ministry’s Medical Care Directorate within one week of the order’s issuance.

The order strictly prohibits both public and private hospitals from charging or imposing any financial burden on victims, under any name, for services and procedures covered by the mandate.
It requests any victim who has not received adequate treatment to visit the Medical Care Directorate at the main building of the Ministry of Public Health to follow up on their case and secure necessary care.
