Parliament Approves Draft Laws, Most Notably Granting 6 Additional Salaries to Military and Civil Servants and Opening an Allocation in the 2026 Budget

The House of Representatives approved draft laws including granting six additional salaries to military and public sector employees with retroactive effect from March 1, and opening an additional allocation in the 2026 budget.

The House of Representatives approved in the legislative session the draft law contained in Decree No. 2251, aiming to request approval to amend Side Letter No. 1 related to Loan Agreement No. /959 signed between the Lebanese Republic and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development regarding the project description and the amended goods list for the sewage project in the Sarafand area.

It also approved the draft law contained in Decree No. 1978, aiming to amend some provisions of the Social Security Law, exempt from late payment increases, and reschedule debts owed to the National Social Security Fund based on amendments by the Finance and Budget Committee.

Likewise, the Council approved in the legislative session, "the draft law contained in Decree No. 3057, aiming to open an additional allocation in the general budget for the year 2026 in the amount of 56,500,000,000,000/ L.L. only fifty-six thousand five hundred billion Lebanese pounds, to grant military personnel and public sector employees 6 additional salaries with retroactive effect from March 1."

It also approved the draft law contained in Decree No. 1834, aiming to authorize the Lebanese government to conclude an agreement between the Lebanese Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany regarding the establishment of local offices for the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Reconstruction Credit Institute (KFW).

The draft law contained in Decree No. 1917, aiming to amend some articles of Law No. 449 dated 1995/8/17 regulating the affairs of the Islamic Alawite sect in Lebanon, was referred back to committees.

Likewise, the draft law contained in Decree No. 13123, aiming to amend Law No. 449, dated 1995/8/17 and its amendments regulating the affairs of the Islamic Alawite Fatwa and defining its staff, was referred back to committees.

It approved the draft law contained in Decree No. 2420, aiming to request approval to conclude an agreement between the Lebanese Republic and the International Monetary Fund regarding the establishment of the office of the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund.
