Republic President Joseph Aoun stated that "On the anniversary of Dany Chamoun's assassination, we recall a painful chapter in Lebanon's history and honor the memory of one of its statesmen who left his mark on national life. The years of war taught us that Lebanon cannot be an arena for others' wars or a mailbox for their conflicts, and that it is the Lebanese who pay the price with their lives, security, and the stability of their homeland, while the country reaps only division and destruction."

He affirmed that "The lessons we drew from those bitter experiences oblige us to cling to our national unity, safeguard Lebanon's sovereignty and independent decision-making, and restrict the decision of war and peace to the state and its legitimate institutions, thereby protecting all Lebanese and preserving the future of coming generations."

President Aoun added: "On this anniversary, our duty remains to transform the pains of the past into a shared will to build a strong and just state that embraces all its children, protects its land and people, and prevents the recurrence of tragedies for which the Lebanese paid a heavy price."
