President Aoun Highlights Economic and Financial Reforms as National Priority

President Joseph Aoun received the economic advisor to the special envoy of the French President, Jacques de Lajugie, accompanied by the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, and an economic delegation. During the meeting, they reviewed Lebanon's economic and financial situation along with the ongoing reform efforts undertaken by the state, as well as cooperation with international partners.

The discussion included progress made on several key reforms, particularly the bank restructuring law, the financial gap treatment law, and the medium-term public finance framework. These are considered fundamental components of the economic reform program and the cooperation process with the International Monetary Fund.

President Aoun affirmed that economic and financial reforms have been a national priority since he assumed office. He stressed that these reforms are implemented primarily for the benefit of the Lebanese people and to restore trust in the state and economy, rather than merely responding to international demands. He also noted that the war imposed additional challenges and slowed the reform process, but the state remains committed to completing it.

The President underscored the deep historical ties between Lebanon and France, stating that Lebanon's stability also serves the interests of France, Europe, and the region. He called for continued international support for Lebanon, emphasizing that the success of reforms requires genuine partnership aligned with the efforts exerted by the Lebanese state.
