President Aoun Reviews Washington Meetings with PM Salam, Discusses Southern Visit Outcomes

President Joseph Aoun received Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to review the general situation in Lebanon amid recent developments.

During the meeting, President Aoun briefed the Prime Minister on the outcomes of his visit to the United States, including his meetings with President Donald Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He also highlighted the preparations made by US officials to support the Lebanese Army and assist Lebanon across various sectors.

President Aoun further emphasized the United States' commitment to implementing the framework agreed upon during the Washington talks, considering Lebanon's firm stance on the necessity of completing the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese villages and towns up to the southern border.

Prime Minister Salam, in turn, informed President Aoun about his visit to southern Lebanon, specifically to the town of Zouq al-Zahra following the Israeli withdrawal. He affirmed, "I confirmed that we stand with our people in the south and alongside them, and that the state is determined to provide for their needs, ensuring their presence on their land and safeguarding their livelihoods."

The discussion also covered Prime Minister Salam's planned visit to Iraq next Sunday, where he will meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Kazim Al-Zaydi to explore ways to strengthen Lebanese-Iraqi relations across multiple fields.
