Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a ministerial meeting addressing the southern region's situation and the education sector's readiness for the new school year.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam presided over the regular ministerial meeting held at the Grand Serail, attended by several ministers.
The discussions focused on the outcomes of field visits conducted by the ministers to villages and towns in the southern region. The meeting explored ways to facilitate the return of residents to their villages and to provide them with appropriate shelter.
Participants also addressed supporting the needs of municipalities and local sectors to aid this return, as a preparatory step for launching a reconstruction workshop.
The meeting further examined the condition of the education sector in the south in preparation for the upcoming academic year, including the necessary requirements to ensure its smooth operation.
An update was provided on the ongoing work of road openings and debris removal, which has already commenced. During the session, it was noted that the initial direct cost of the war, based on preliminary estimates, ranges between 3 and 4 billion US dollars, excluding economic losses and indirect damages, and without considering the issue of the first support war.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the relevant ministers to take the initiative in activating and completing the necessary steps to facilitate the return of displaced residents, to secure the required services from the concerned ministries, and to strengthen coordination among them to achieve this goal.
