Rai Discusses Continued Cooperation with French Ambassador

Patriarch Maronite Cardinal Bechara Peter Raï received the new French ambassador to Lebanon, Patrick Douril, accompanied by his wife Nacira and political advisor Raphaël, at the patriarchal summer residence in Dimane.

At the start of the meeting, Ambassador Douril thanked Patriarch Raï for his reception and highlighted "the depth of historical relations between Lebanon and France, the friendship linking both peoples, particularly the historical ties between France and the Maronites, as well as the importance of continuing cooperation and supporting Lebanese institutions."

In turn, Patriarch Raï welcomed Ambassador Douril, wishing him "success in his diplomatic mission," and expressed "his appreciation for Lebanese-French relations and France’s interest in Lebanon and its people."

Subsequently, Patriarch Raï received a delegation from the "Mouradah Movement," during which they wished him well, expressing their admiration for his commitment to love and unity.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss various social and humanitarian issues, especially the conditions of families and youth, and the need to strengthen initiatives that serve humanity and help people overcome difficult circumstances.

Later, Patriarch Raï received a delegation from the Women’s Apostolate, attended by the patriarchal vicar Bishop Elias Nassar, Bishop Joseph Naffaa, Sister Nazeha Khouri, head of the apostolate Mrs. Mirna Muzzak, several nuns, and other women, in a gathering dedicated to honoring Sister Dominique al-Halabi for her long-standing service to women in the Church and society.

Mrs. Muzzak spoke about the history of the Women’s Apostolate and the transition of leadership to Sister Dominique, affirming that "her taking up the torch represents continuity in a tradition of service and work that has strengthened women's presence across all dioceses."

In her remarks, Sister Dominique recalled the early beginnings of the apostolate, her participation in the Maronite Patriarchal Synod, and the support and encouragement she received from Patriarch Raï throughout its growth, expressing "her gratitude to God, the Church, bishops, and the women who shared her years of labor," and affirming that "what united them was love for the Church, the spirit of joy and service, and the protection of women’s dignity and mission."

Patriarch Raï thanked Sister Dominique for her contributions, urging her to "continue accompanying the apostolate with her experience and presence," stressing that "her recognition is not the end of her journey, but its continuation," and said: "Our meeting is one of beginning, not of conclusion."

At the end of the gathering, Patriarch Raï presented Sister Dominique al-Halabi a papal blessing from Pope Francis XIV, before taking a commemorative photo and signing the golden honor register in her recognition.
