Roumieh Prisoners Demand 'General Amnesty' on Day 16 of Hunger Strike

The number of critical cases among prisoners participating in the Roumieh prison hunger strike has risen to 43, according to a prisoner spokesperson. More than 400 inmates in Building "B" are still carrying out a widespread hunger and medication strike for the sixteenth consecutive day, protesting the suspension of the general amnesty law.

Prisoners (J.S.) and (A.N.) were transferred from Roumieh prison to the hospital late last night after their health deteriorated. In the early hours of dawn, prisoner (A.A.) was also transported to the hospital for the third time in two weeks due to the continuous worsening of his medical condition.

For its part, the "Committee of Prisoners' Families" revealed that the increasing pressure on prison ambulances forced officials to use non-equipped transport vehicles to avoid delaying the transfer of emergency cases.

In parallel, prisoners continue to issue daily appeals through banners they leak to media outlets. In a humanitarian appeal they raised, they stated: "We demanded amnesty for the wronged, now we demand amnesty for the amnesty... Release the general amnesty law."
