The Public Relations Directorate of the National Social Security Fund announced that the fund's administration is implementing the necessary measures to support the healthcare sector amid escalating economic and security challenges. Recognizing the critical role of the health sector, especially during Lebanon's current difficult period, the fund continues to back the hospital sector.

On June 8, 2026, the fund's Director General, Dr. Mohammad Karky, issued decision number 311, authorizing the disbursement of financial advances amounting to nearly 400 billion Lebanese lira to hospitals and doctors contracted with the fund. These advances cover the costs of 5,845 inpatient transactions for beneficiaries who received treatment at the fund's expense.

According to the announcement, since the beginning of the current year, the total amount paid by the fund to cover hospitalization expenses for beneficiaries—excluding dialysis treatments—has reached approximately 2,317 billion Lebanese lira. This funding aims to provide the necessary liquidity to healthcare institutions, enabling them to continue admitting insured patients and delivering medical and inpatient services without interruption.

The fund's management has responded to the ongoing rise in operational costs and financial pressures by increasing the percentage of advances granted to hospitals from 75% to 90% of the value of transactions executed by beneficiaries.

Dr. Karky praised the exceptional efforts of the hospital sector, affirming that hospitals and doctors have demonstrated a high level of commitment, professional responsibility, and national dedication throughout Lebanon's difficult phases. This commitment persisted despite the financial and human resource depletion faced by the sector, as well as direct damages sustained by several hospitals and their staff due to Israeli attacks.
