Speaker Nabih Berri Emphasizes Results Following Washington Summit
Speaker Nabih Berri highlights the importance of tangible outcomes after the meeting between Presidents Joseph Aoun and Donald Trump in Washington.

Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri stressed that the crucial aspect following the summit between Presidents Joseph Aoun and Donald Trump in Washington is the tangible results on the ground, not merely the appearance of the meeting.
In an interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Berri stated, "The key after this meeting is to consolidate the ceasefire and the withdrawals, which have not yet occurred." He pointed out that "the withdrawal carried out on Monday from the town of Zoutar al-Gharbi was hardly a withdrawal, as the town is very small and was never fully occupied. Additionally, criminal bombing operations continue against houses, civilian neighborhoods, and infrastructure, alongside ongoing attacks on residents at the outskirts of occupied villages."
Berri considers the success of the summit to depend on achieving these steps. He added, "I previously said, accomplish achievements and I will respect that... but this has not happened yet."
When asked by Al-Sharq Al-Awsat about his impression of the American president’s comment that Berri would join the process once he sees progress from the agreement, Berri responded with a laugh, "It seems President Trump understands me better than some Lebanese."
