Statement from the Social Security Fund... What Did It Say?
The National Social Security Fund announced new financial advances to hospitals and doctors, totaling approximately 444 billion LBP, as part of efforts to clear accumulated debts and improve healthcare coverage.
The Public Relations Directorate of the National Social Security Fund announced in a statement that after processing a large portion of accumulated hospital entitlements dating back to before 2024, the latest being the settlement of two hospitals' dues with a total value of approximately 14 billion LBP, this step falls within the path of closing old files and gradually clearing accumulated entitlements. In parallel, the Director General of the Fund, Mohammad Karky, continued his policy of regularly injecting liquidity into the healthcare sector, issuing new decisions on 30/9/2026 numbered 516, 517, and 518, granting financial advances to hospitals and contracted doctors with a total value of approximately 444 billion LBP for hospital transactions related to insured individuals who received treatments at the expense of the insurance.
With this installment, the total amount paid by the Fund since the beginning of the year as hospital advances rises to approximately 5,200 billion LBP, equivalent to about 58 million US dollars.
Karky affirmed that "work is underway by the Fund's administration to adjust tariffs for medical procedures needed by insured patients at all stages of their treatment, gradually and within available financial capabilities," and called on hospitals and contracted doctors to "adhere to the tariffs approved by it and not burden insured patients with any unjustified financial differences, especially in light of the difficult living conditions faced by Lebanese people."
On the other hand, Karky confirmed what the Minister of Labor announced regarding the increase in family allowances, which are now in the final stages, after the administration prepared the actuarial study and the necessary draft decree, and submitted it to the Board of Directors for completion on 29/9/2026.
Upon the issuance of the necessary decree, family allowances will be as follows:
- For the spouse (husband or wife): 3 million LBP
- For each child (up to 5 children): 1.6 million LBP
Thus, the Social Security Fund, this comprehensive national institution, has defied the most difficult circumstances to restore the trust of the insured, truly serving as the health and social safety valve in the country.
