Sidon Municipality announced the initiation of strict legal measures against anyone who dumps waste randomly in streets and roads. In this context, the Sidon Municipal Police Command today referred an official letter, after receiving a report documented with photos and video from a citizen dated 19/5/2026, stating that a driver of a silver (Toyota Yaris) car dumped waste on the road, in an act lacking environmental responsibility and civic sense.
Accordingly, an immediate letter was prepared to be submitted to the Governor of South Lebanon, requesting instructions to the Commander of the Southern Regional District in the Internal Security Forces to take the necessary legal measures against the violator, including his arrest, drawing up a violation report against him, and taking the appropriate legal action.
Sidon Municipality praised the community awareness and responsible sense of citizens who reject these offensive behaviors and contribute to documenting and reporting them, stressing that the city's streets and neighborhoods are public property and not a garbage dump or an open space for violations.
The municipality also emphasizes that silence about these practices harms the public interest and undermines the daily efforts made by cleaning teams and municipal workshops to maintain the city's cleanliness and its civilized image.
It warned all citizens, residents, and car drivers against throwing any waste or debris from vehicle windows or in places not designated for them, stressing that the municipal police, in cooperation with security agencies, will continue to pursue violators and draw up violation reports and fines against anyone proven to be involved in committing these environmental violations.
