The €505 Million Package Approved by the European Union for Lebanon Is Not Entirely New
The €505 million package approved by the European Union for Lebanon is not a new initiative but the second installment of a previously announced aid package, covering 2026 and 2027.
Confirmed diplomatic sources to LBCI stated that the €505 million package approved by the European Union for Lebanon is not entirely new, but rather the second tranche of the package announced by von der Leyen during her visit to Beirut in May 2024, intended for the period spanning from 2024 to 2027.
The sources explained that the new package will cover the years 2026 and 2027.
They said: “The €505 million will be distributed to support basic services, particularly education, health, social protection, and water, as well as support for reforms and institutions, economic recovery, the security sector, border management, and assistance to areas affected by conflicts.”
