The US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, confirmed that "the idea of Syria's intervention in Lebanon was not accepted by any concerned party, including Israel," pointing out that "this proposal was not part of a path that enjoys regional or international consensus."

Huckabee explained that "the current stage requires focusing on addressing the security and political files in Lebanon through existing frameworks, far from any return to the models of external interventions that characterized previous phases of the country's history."

In his remarks on the Lebanese situation, the US ambassador considered that Hezbollah constitutes a common enemy for both Lebanon and Israel, in an expression of Washington's position on the party's military role, and the necessity of confining the decision on weapons and the use of force to the official institutions of the Lebanese state.

He pointed out that the restoration of the Lebanese state's control over the south will not be an immediate step, but rather a "gradual process" that requires successive phases, given the existing security and political complexities, and working to strengthen the role of the Lebanese army and legitimate institutions in imposing stability and extending state authority.
