Tlayss demands immediate implementation of decision to open funding for public transport drivers
Bassam Tlayss, head of the Land Transport Sector Unions and Syndicates, urged Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Finance Minister Yassin Jaber to immediately implement the cabinet decision to allocate funds for public transport driver assistance.

Bassam Tlayss, head of the Land Transport Sector Unions and Syndicates, reminded "Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Finance Minister Yassin Jaber, with the approaching session of the Parliament's General Assembly, of the necessity to expedite the implementation of the Council of Ministers' decision regarding opening a credit line in the budget to cover the allowance for public transport drivers for three months, as a first phase, starting from 1/10/2026 until 31/12/2026".
He stressed that "this decision did not come out of nowhere, but was the fruit of a clear agreement with the government, based on which we stopped our street movement, out of our national and union responsibility, and to allow room for governmental handling of the file as agreed upon".
He focused on the fact that "agreements are not measured by promises, but by the extent of commitment to their implementation, and that public transport drivers who waited for this agreement to be translated into practical steps must not remain hostages to delay and procrastination". He demanded that the government "take its responsibilities, include the required credit line and implement the decision without any delay, in fulfillment of its commitment towards the land transport sector, and to preserve the trust upon which the cessation of movement was built".
